No idea why or how this happened.

Seemed to happen not long after upgrading to Snow Leopard. Had a search around and found other people had been experiencing blurry/pixelated icons too. Also, this thread on the Apple Support web site.

Anyway, I just dragged the Safari application into the dock again and that fixed it for me – weird…

Apple today announced that more than 1 million copies of Safari for Windows were downloaded in the first 48 hours since the free public beta was made available on Monday. Safari 3 beta is available as a free download:

1. Click on the “Safari”? menu
2. Select “Empty Cache…”

Sounds easy doesn’t it!
However, I find that this doesn’t always work, particularly if you are viewing Flash sites, so I tend to follow this slightly more lengthy procedure which usually works.

1. Close all open Safari windows
2. Click on the “Safari”? menu
3. Select “Empty Cache…”
4. Quit Safari
5. Relaunch Safari
6. Optionally, select “Empty Cache…” again, just to make sure
